DU president, Prof. Wael Mualla met with Dr. Mubarak M.A.M. Al-Majzhoob, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils. The two discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Union and Damascus University. Drs. Mualla and Al-Majzhoob overviewed issues related to exchange of expertise, knowledge sharing, and exchange of visits by scholars. Both institutions concurred with the view that serious efforts need to be exerted to make Arabic the language of instruction and research in Arab universities and research centers. The SG commended the pioneering role that Damascus University has played over the years in support of “Arabizing” the learning environment in Arab universities.
More discussion went into the forthcoming forum on the role of IT in supporting academic management, scheduled to be held at the Rida Said Conference Center of Damascus University. The two sides agreed on empowering the IT association affiliated with UASRC, and based in Damascus.
